RE: Aerodynamics or style?

I have the optional front nose cone on my KZ and an enclosed underbelly. One thing I have noticed compared to my previous '06 Antigua 235SBS HTT is that with the heavier(by 2000lbs) KZ I can actually keep the F150 in OD more and I've not had a decrease in highway gas mileage. I consider that pretty good but as a note KZ does not say that this cone will increase gas mileage so as usual YMMV.

RE: Fresh fruit & veggies into Canada ...

I am particularly cautious since last fall I was fined $300 when I had what I believed to be a vegetarian lasagna and it turned out it had about 2 oz. of beef in it. I innocently did not realize this and since I declared I did not have any beef, I was fined. Should sue the cmpany for $300 for false advertising:W

RE: Fresh fruit & veggies into Canada ...

I've never had them ask about any food I'm bring back into Canada, now going state side it is probably 50/50. We bring what we like, can't get down in the states and are allowed to bring with us then buy the rest there. For some reason they don't sell decent margarine?

RE: Does anyone make?

KZ also makes rear slides w/wo side slides. Usually U-shaped dinnettes. Really like our queen rear slide bunk house.

RE: Winter camping Northern states

There are a couple state parks in NY open during the winter. We're heading to Dariean Lake for New Years. Weather permitting for driving winter camping is a lot of fun!

RE: Feeling Ripped Off

I sold a 1976 StarCraft poup for $1800 a couple years back. You got hosed but you didn't have to take their offer. I think you could have easily sold it for at least twice what they offered you "as is".

RE: Waxing: Do you wax your tongue??

Repainting just doesn't look as good as the orginal coating.. I use gloss black and it looks brand new. Rear bumpers and frame as required as well.

RE: Tow speed

90 - 100 kmph/55 - 60 mph. The truck will almost always stay in OD at these speeds and returns my best average gas mileage at just over 10mpg. I'm not in a hurry I'm going camping!

RE: Lost battle with Starcraft

Chuck since you seem to be an authority here... :R I'll tell ya that area would probably not been on my inspection list unless something pulled my eye to it. I drove through a lot of rain and snow with our 235SBS over 2 year and that area never gave me problems. I did have some separation below the diamond plating where the Darko material did not fit properly and allowed moisture in. Pics are on my webshots of my repair that I did myself as I figured I could do a better job at it than my dealer. Seemed everytime I went out it was either raining on the way there or the way back:(

RE: Lost battle with Starcraft

I'm on the other end - I'm tired of people letting the manufacturer off the hook. A one year warranty? Gee, that's just enough time for a floor or wall to start getting soft, just in time for the warranty to expire and the manuf. to pass it off as neglect. I'm not defending the Op but I take a bit of exception to the "pass" so many people give these companies. I can count on 2 hands the number of threads about first time trips resulting in leaking behind, around or near the shower enclosures. It's so common on some products, like the Rockwood Signature Series, that current owners tell new owners to caulk the shower and enclosure before use. I think some of us are eager to drop the axe on the owner and write a free pass to companies who slap together products and warranty them just long enough to say they have a warranty. Anyone buying a unit should opt for the 2nd year coverage (Forest River) if avalaible and seriosuly consider those who offer it standard (Jayco, K-Z, etc.) MHO.... I had no problem with StarCraft warranty as I believed the units were/are well made, 12 years on roof, 7 years on tenting(best in the business) plus the usual on all appliances from the respective manufacturers. Yes they shouldn't be left off the hook when manufacturing processes are faulty. I'm hopeful that if the OP takes up the discussion directly with StarCraft that he can get it resolved. I was really personally very happy with their product and CS so I hope they don't let him down.

RE: Lost battle with Starcraft

I sympathize with the original poster but I'm seeing more of this entitlement mentality displayed by the majority of previous posts. "Not my fault" is the claim here. Going the extra mile? If this trailer was only a couple of weeks out of warranty there might be a chance, but... -- Chuck Chuck, my experience and others says otherwise. Since I have more than a little experience with these units having owned two I'm a little hard pressed to understand how in the world you believe him responsible for an act of de-lamination or how through regular maintenance he could have prevented it, in fact the dealer said they could not find water damage?! These doors are expensive and unless water has been entering through a flaw in the door that was visible through regular inspection and he chose not to do anything about it I'd be expecting StarCraft to at least pickup the cost of the door, install it myself or work a deal with the dealer. It's called Customer Service and considering the market at present it is best through these times that manufactures step up to the plate and deliver it instead of lip service. I'm not calling into question the warranty but what I believe to be faulty components that should last the life of the unit, the doors are NOT regular wear items like a battery or light, they are like the roof and tent ends which carry a 12 and 7 year warranty respectfully.

RE: RV industry needs to be redifined

The fiberglass/filon exteriors need to be eliminated. The vast majority delaminate. :h

RE: Lost battle with Starcraft

I had StarCraft and my dealer cover a new set of tires after my 235SBS had been out of warranty for over 6 months. Perhaps your dealer is not really going the extra mile for you like he says. We were really pleased with both our Antiguas and the service from our dealer while we owned them. Push a little harder, you did pay premium for it and I'd expect to received premium service!

RE: trans flush

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by flushed. I have never added a "flush" product to my trans oil. At 58k miles, when I bought it used, I did the normal trans and filter, that did not include the fluid in the converter. At 98k miles I changed it again, but this time they used some machine to suck the fluid out of the converter. So, more of the fluid was removed and replaced. Maybe this is what you think of as a flush. Ford has a machine that the hook to the transmission and they push out the old fluid, they get the tork converter fluids, everything is replaced. dont ask me how either, it just works. Ford no longer uses the high pressure systems but matches the pressure of the "flush" to the pressure of your tranmission. My dealer recommended to only change the fluid when it was called for under the severe service schedule. They did not see any reason to change it sooner, took their advise as it's their warranty and I'm not having any issues. The new Fords all use synth trans fluids.

RE: How long does it take to 'break camp'

We put our rig away just like it was when we left home, ready to go out again. I don't want to do it when I get home! 2 - 3 hours depending on how much stuff we brought and how long we stayed. Bikes, easy-up, canoe, portable tables, grill, camping mat and then we always take showers before we close up and hook-up.

Seems to be a thing for Canadians but no idea why. You ever see how dark it gets up here at night late in the season?! Couldn't find my way back to the huge sites we have in our massive parks:W

RE: Newbie Question about caring for fresh water tanks

If the smell/taste of bleach remains just refill tank and add a cup of vinegar midway through the tank fill up, let it sit for an hour or so and then run it through the lines then drain the rest. It'll neutralize the bleach.

RE: TT vs Hybrid vs Popup

The HTT will be about the same at the Prowler TT because it's just a TT with tent ends, a barn door into the wind. Most likely your gas mileage would be pretty decent with the popup but are you really willing to give up all the conviences of a hardside for some extra gas mileage?

RE: Cleaning tent ends

StarCraft Aqualon can be cleaned with almost anything including a water/bleach solution. For 4 seasons owning 2 Antigua's I never once cleaned them. Used the gizmos to protect them every trip and the rain did the rest. Looked new when I traded the 235SBS in with over a hundred nights out in it. BTW StarCraft has the recommendations for cleaning them in their manual along with the rest of the unit including the roof.
